Facilities that experience a COVID-19 outbreak will be required to use masks; other mitigation is still required.

On Thursday, February 10, 2022, Gov. Sisolak issued Emergency Directive 052, under which face coverings are no longer required in indoor or outdoor settings.  To align with Emergency Directive 052, face coverings will not be required within Early Childhood Education (ECE) settings, unless the ECE is experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19.  ECE’s that are experiencing an outbreak must implement appropriate mitigation measures, including universal masking for the duration of the outbreak for those ages two and older.

Masking must also occur for anyone who has COVID-19 or was exposed to someone with COVID-19 and is following the shortened isolation or quarantine periods, which allow for five days of masking after five days of either isolation or quarantine.  Click here for the CDC guidelines for quarantine and isolation.

To summarize:

  • Staff and/or children who have presumed or confirmed COVID-19 should stay home and isolate for at least five full days and stay away from other people as much as possible.
  • People without symptoms can end isolation after five full days and return to the ECE program if they are older than age two and able to consistently and correctly wear a mask while in the ECE program.
  • People who once had symptoms can end isolation after five full days and return to the ECE program if they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and if symptoms have improved.
  • Masking must also occur for anyone who has COVID-19 or was exposed to someone with COVID-19 and is following the shortened isolation or quarantine periods, which allow for five days of masking after five days of either isolation or quarantine.
  • Sanitation and disinfecting are always required.
  • Frequent handwashing is required.
