The Office of Early Learning and Development (OELD) in the Nevada Department of Education was created by Governor Sandoval through Executive Order #2013-16 and approved by the interim finance committee in June 2014. The office administers multiple early childhood state and federal funding sources including:  NV State Pre-K, Pre-K Development Grant, Head Start State Collaboration Office Grant, Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Grant, and Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Quality Dollars. Programs funded through the CCDF Quality Dollars include:

The focus of the OELD is to coordinate birth-3rd grade state level work in collaboration with the Nevada Early Childhood Advisory Council and to improve access and quality of early childhood programs across a variety of settings.  The office coordinates state level P-3 reform efforts, which are part of a national initiative to transform how children ages 0 to 8 learn. The initiative focuses on building strong connections between learning experiences across these critical years.  This approach necessitates that educational standards, curricula, assessment, instruction, and professional development are strongly aligned across programs starting in infancy through 3rd grade.

Recognition for Career Ladder Level Increases

The Office of Early Learning and Development (OELD), in partnership with Lakeshore Learning, recognizes increases in Career Ladder levels by granting eligible Registry members their choice of a classroom materials kit from Lakeshore in exchange for upward movement on the ladder.

This is a limited offer while funding is available.  Eligible participants may only receive one kit per year at the time of their Nevada Registry renewal and will receive notification of the award from the OELD*. Kits are awarded for advancement along the Career Ladder by one or more level (i.e. Level 2 to Level 3); not movement within a level (i.e. Level 1.2 to Level 1.3).  If you have any questions, please contact Emily Champlin via email at echamplin@doe.nv.gov.

*If eligible for a kit, your name will be provided to the OELD only if you have a release of information authorization on file with The Nevada Registry. Contact the Registry if you are unsure whether you have previously granted permission for the Registry to release your contact information (by checking the box on either your initial or renewal application forms) for the purposes of being informed of upcoming training events, special offers/event, membership prizes, limited scholarship opportunities, etc.
