The University of Nevada Reno Extension is excited to continue their Early Childhood Spiral Up Academy Level 1 Program with TWO simultaneous sessions in Spanish and in English beginning Monday, May 6, 2024 (Spanish) and Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (English). The goal is to assist early learning leaders meet the challenges of training new staff by providing training and coaching to new hires.
The Spiral Up Academy is a comprehensive eight-week program which includes the State of Nevada Childcare Licensing required trainings (CPR/First Aid not included) as well as seven additional early childhood topics and up to five hours of coaching during the academy. This Academy is open to all new hires in the state of Nevada who are within their first 90 days (three months) of employment by the start date of the Academy. We are also able to accommodate a limited number of participants past their initial 90 days. The goal is to build a competent and confident workforce on the foundations of developmentally appropriate practices and the pyramid model.

All referring directors will be required to participate in a Spiral Up Academy orientation via Zoom before the first week of the Academy (multiple dates & times will be provided) and to participate in a coaching transition meeting during the 8th week of the Academy. The Spiral Up team will be providing support to directors to continue to coach their new hires after the conclusion of the Academy. These requirements are reflected in the director agreement portion of the referral form.
If you are interested in referring your new hires to this free program, please do the following:
- Carefully read through the attached paperwork (There is a Frequently Asked Questions sheet as well)
- Meet with your new hire(s) and let them know about the program and what will be expected of them. If possible, complete the referral forms with your new hire
- Fill out the paperwork and email it to Danielle.
Enrollment ends April 19, 2024 and space is limited!
