As of July 1, 2024, all child care facilities in Washoe County are licensed by the State of Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Child Care Licensing Program (DWSS CCL). As a result, the information in this post may no longer be valid but is being preserved on the NEWS page for historical purposes. Please refer to the DWSS CCL website for the most current information.

An important message from Lindsey Klaes, Human Services Supervisor, Child Care Licensing:

Although we know all of our providers strive to comply with regulation, there are inevitably situations in which a parent or other community member wishes to make a complaint against a child care provider. Often, providers are unsure where to direct those people with concerns. Washoe County Licensing has recently rolled out a new informational web page and online complaint system that will make the complaint process more accessible. We have also created this quick reference sheet about the complaint investigation process that may be helpful to have on hand or post.

Additionally, starting July 11, 2023, Washoe County Child Care Licensing is moving to a rotating complaint assignment process within our unit. What this means for all of you is that instead of a provider’s assigned licensing worker investigating any and all concerns or complaints that come up, any of our three licensing workers – Heather, Jamie, or Katie – may be assigned. This does not change who will complete your regular licensing inspections or who you would typically reach out to with questions or concerns, just who may respond to and investigate licensing complaints.
